Where It All Began

I began working with clay in the 1980s.

As a woman living by the ocean, I was drawn to natural textures and forms inspired by the sea. What started as a small surf-inspired collection of porcelain and silver jewellery slowly grew into a lifelong devotion to ceramics.

For decades, my hands have shaped clay. Refining, experimenting, learning the quiet language of the material.

Today, in partnership with my daughter, Rituals by Belen is an evolution of our journey.

Our Life

I am Spanish, living in Perth, Australia.

My daughter is half Spanish, half Australian, and grew up in Bali.

Living between cultures, between Europe Asia, and Australia, between tradition and island life, has shaped the way we see beauty.

Bali, in particular, has deeply influenced our values.

Living on an island, you cannot ignore what waste does to the land and ocean. You see it. You feel it. It stays with you.

That awareness sits at the heart of this work.

How Each Piece Is Made

Every piece begins in my workshop in Fremantle.

Our production takes place in our Indonesian workshop, which has been operating for over 30 years and proudly supports multiple local families.

We sculpt and create each design by hand, carefully shaping the original form until the proportions, texture, and balance feel right. This stage is slow and deliberate, it can take many iterations before a design is ready.

Once perfected, the original form is moulded and each piece is individually reproduced and kiln fired. The intense heat strengthens the clay, transforming it into a durable pebble designed to last. This firing process ensures each piece is not only beautiful, but resilient, made to be used, handled, and cherished without fragility.

After firing, every piece is carefully inspected to ensure it meets our standards of quality.

No two are ever identical.

That individuality is part of their story.

Sustainability At The Core

Sustainability is not an afterthought, it is central to my process.

From ethically sourcing raw materials to using recycled and minimal packaging, every decision is made with intention.

When you purchase from this shop, you are not simply buying an object.

You are investing in a piece of functional art, created to endure, to age beautifully, and to be passed down rather than thrown away.

These are not trend pieces.

They are lasting objects.
